◆ General precautions for operation
Important notice regarding simultaneous access to the same aircraft.
- Please refrain from simultaneously accessing the same robots's control screen from multiple PCs on the ugo Portal. When multiple devices access the data channel simultaneously, the number of data channel connections becomes excessive,
causing internal processing to slow down. The operation screen may not display correctly. To prevent such issues, we recommend limiting the number of simultaneous connections to the same device to eight or fewer.
Supplement: Depending on the on-site communication environment and network load, even fewer connections may affect operation. - If you have the map editor open at the same time, the map editor will also be counted as one connection.
Example: If four operators each have the "operation screen" and the "map editor screen" open for the same robot, The total number of data channel connections will be "8".
Anti-collision function
- The ugo cart unit is equipped with LiDAR, which can detect objects within a 270° range in front of it. The collision avoidance function uses LiDAR to slow down and stop ugo if an object is detected within a specified range. When moving ugo, please make sure this feature is enabled. ・Collision prevention function v2
- The collision avoidance range (safety margin) is displayed on the left side of the ugo control screen (the yellow rectangle indicates the safety margin). The default collision avoidance feature at startup slows down ugo when the distance to an obstacle is within 1 meter. ugo will stop when the distance becomes less than 0.5m.You can change the collision avoidance range (distance for deceleration/stopping) by executing the " Change Safety Margin " command.
Collision prevention display list (left side of operation screen)
Lifter unit, arm
- If you perform arm operations (such as changing posture) when the lifter unit (body unit) is not at sufficient height, Please be careful as the cart unit and the arm may come into contact. Furthermore, if there is an object within the range of motion of ugo's arm (such as near a wall), the arm can be manipulated (its posture can be changed) Care must be taken to prevent the arm from coming into contact with the object.
◆ Important points to note when running Flow
Execute from the top command (*)
- Flows are configured/created assuming they will be executed from the top command. Therefore, executing a command set in the middle of a Flow will result in actions that were not intended by the Flow creator. There is a risk that ugo may come into contact with surrounding objects, potentially leading to damage.
*If you start running Flow midway, check the surroundings and ensure that ugo does not come into contact with surrounding objects.
Please secure it.
◆ Points to note when running a WorkPlan
・Start from Step #1 (*)
- The WorkPlan is configured assuming that the steps will be executed from the top. Therefore, executing a step set in the middle of the WorkPlan will result in actions that were not intended by the WorkPlan creator. There is a risk that ugo may come into contact with surrounding objects, potentially leading to damage.
*If you start the WorkPlan midway through, check the surrounding environment to ensure that ugo does not come into contact with surrounding objects.
Please ensure your safety.
◆ Emergency stopping procedure
- If you encounter any unintended behavior or malfunctions while using ugo, please stop ugo using the following method.
Press the emergency stop switch.
Please see below for details on the emergency stop switch.
*It is possible to push it in directly from the top of the cover.
• Specifications and recovery procedure for the emergency stop switch
| ugo Pro (G4) (manufacturing date: March 2025 or later) | ugo Pro (G4) (manufacturing date: before February 2025) |
| ugo Ex (G4) | ugo mini (G1) |
Behavior when the emergency stop switch is activated
When the switch is turned ON, the following state will be maintained.
■ugo robot behavior
| Item | Situation | Details and Notes |
| Flow / Commands / WorkPlan |
Immediate stop | Any currently running Flows, commands, or WorkPlans will be stopped immediately. |
| Driving function | Blocking | Ugo's movement and turning will stop immediately. Keyboard controls, command inputs, and Flow-based movement and turning will all become unavailable. |
| Brake | Deactivate (block) | The braking function will be deactivated. Please be extremely careful when pressing the emergency stop switch on an incline, as the machine may start moving due to its own weight. Please note that if you have enabled the braking function when connected to a charging station using the " Automatic Charging Start (Volume Adjustment/Brake) " command or the " Cart Brake ON " command in Pro /Ex, the brakes will be released. |
| Arm (Pro) | Loss of holding power | The arm will lose its support and will fall under its own weight. Please be careful to avoid contact with surrounding objects or the machine's own cart unit. |
| Telescopic pole (mini) | Loss of holding power | The telescopic pole will lose its support and fall under its own weight. Please be careful to avoid contact with or pinching of surrounding objects. |
| Face display (Pro / mini) |
Warning display | A special warning message, "Emergency Stop," will appear on the face display. |
| Speaker | Valid | It is possible to output the operator's voice through the computer's microphone using the M key on the keyboard. Voice playback via command will stop immediately. |
| Camera/Microphone | Valid | Surrounding monitoring (video and sound recording) will continue. |
| Lifter Unit (Pro) | Valid | The height of the lifter unit will be maintained. Lifting and lowering will stop immediately. |
| Long-duration recording | Continuation | Recording will not stop and will continue. |
| Emergency Stop State (Pro) | Emergency stop state (mini) |
If the ugo mini enters an emergency stop state while the telescopic pole is extended, the holding force will be lost and it will fall due to its own weight.
■Display on the operation screen
A pop-up message will appear stating, "The emergency stop button on the back has been pressed."
| item | situation | Details and Notes |
| Operation screen (camera footage) |
valid | You can view on-site footage captured by the ugo camera. A pop-up message saying "Emergency stop button pressed" is always displayed. In Pro/Ex versions, you can switch camera views using the C key on your keyboard. |
| audio | valid | I can hear the local audio input through ugo's microphone. |
| Speaker output | valid | It is possible to output the operator's voice through the computer's microphone by pressing the M key on the keyboard. |
| Movement using keyboard controls | invalid | Keyboard controls are not accepted for moving Ugo forward, backward, left, or right, or for turning left or right. |
| Operation of various icons | Not possible | You cannot press any of the icons or buttons on the operation screen. |
| Text-based dialogue / Speech-to-text playback |
Not possible | The text output field on the operation screen and the playback function for spoken text are unavailable. |
| Command / Flow / WorkPlan Operation |
Not possible | Commands, Flows, and WorkPlans cannot be initiated from the user interface. |
|
Map creation / route creation using the map editor |
Not possible | It is not possible to create a map by operating ugo while it is in an emergency stop state, nor is it possible to create a route by manually pressing ugo to record waypoints. |
Procedure for restoring to normal state (common to all models)
①Turning the emergency stop switch to the right (clockwise) will release the lock and the button will pop out towards you. If you pressed the switch through the cover on the ugo Pro/mini, open the cover first and then turn the switch to the right.
② The warning message on the operation screen will disappear, and ugo will return to its normal state. For Pro - Face display returns to default eyes - The arm's holding power is restored, and it returns to its standby position. In the case of a minima - Face display returns to default eyes - The telescopic pole's holding power is restored, and it lowers to its default height (580mm) immediately after startup.
| After releasing the emergency stop (Pro) | After releasing the emergency stop (mini) |
Other stopping methods
Press the spacebar
- ugo will stop working immediately.
- Click "Stop Operation" in the upper right corner of the ugo operation screen.
- This will immediately stop ugo from running. (It works similarly to pressing the spacebar.)
*If the communication quality is poor (reference value: upload/download speed of 20Mbps or less), the service may not be immediately terminated.
